During operation, various deposits accumulate within heating systems. To ensure optimal system performance, not only regular maintenance but also periodic cleaning and flushing are essential.
Limescale, as well as organic and inorganic deposits, gradually build up inside pipelines and heat exchangers. As a result, pipe cross-sections become narrower, system efficiency and heat transfer performance decrease, and energy consumption increases. Deposits conduct heat approximately 40 times less efficiently than the metal used in heating systems.
A deposit layer of just 1 mm inside the pipeline can reduce heat transfer efficiency by approximately 5–7%. As the thickness of the deposits increases, energy consumption rises accordingly and may increase by 20% or even more.
If deposits are not removed in a timely manner, the system not only operates less efficiently but also becomes more susceptible to failures of valves, control components, and other heat exchanger equipment.
To prevent these issues, periodic flushing of heating systems and heat exchangers is recommended. A specialised flushing unit equipped with a circulation pump is connected to the heating system, and carefully selected cleaning agents are circulated through the system for approximately 4–5 hours, depending on the level of contamination.
