ONS 2026: The energy sector transformation is also taking place in maintenance processes

The “Bio-Circle” team attended one of the most important international events in the energy sector – ONS 2026, held in Stavanger, Norway, on 24–27 August. This year, ONS brought together 69,374 participants from 92 countries and more than 1,000 exhibitors. Energy security, geopolitical developments, technological advancement and the transformation of the energy sector were among the key topics discussed throughout the event.

However, major changes in the energy sector are taking place not only at the strategic level. They are also reflected in day-to-day equipment maintenance – from how components are cleaned and which technologies and chemicals are selected to how safe and reliable equipment operation is ensured.

Specific needs – from electric motors to heat exchangers

Specific maintenance challenges also emerged during the “Bio-Circle” team’s meetings at ONS 2026. Discussions with representatives of the Norwegian company KYMAR focused on the cleaning of electric motors and other electrical components during maintenance and repair operations. The company showed interest in CB 100 V – a cleaner designed for electrical equipment and components, including electric motors and generators. During another meeting, with MENTO, a specific challenge was discussed – the removal of coolant residues from the internal surfaces of heat exchangers. After assessing the company’s existing cleaning equipment and process, a potential opportunity was identified to apply an appropriate “Bio-Circle” cleaning technology and chemistry. These discussions illustrate how specific cleaning requirements can be in the energy and offshore sectors. When selecting a solution, it is important to assess the type of contamination, the surface and materials being cleaned, the equipment in use, the working environment and the existing process.

When safety, efficiency and maintenance become part of the same process

The main theme of ONS 2026, “Courage”, was associated with the energy transition, innovation, leadership and the ability to make decisions in a complex environment shaped by energy security and geopolitical challenges.

At the maintenance level, these issues become much more practical. For companies operating in the energy, offshore and other industrial sectors, it is important not only to achieve the required cleaning result, but also to ensure employee safety, process reliability and efficient maintenance, while replacing more hazardous chemicals with lower-risk alternatives wherever technically feasible. This is also one of the main areas of focus for “Bio-Circle” – evaluating not only the cleaning product itself, but the entire cleaning process and identifying solutions that are effective, safe and practical in a specific working environment.

ONS – an opportunity to better understand the Norwegian market

The visit to ONS 2026 gave the “Bio-Circle” team an opportunity not only to explore technologies presented for the energy and offshore sectors, but also to discuss real maintenance challenges directly with companies operating in the market.

The meetings in Stavanger helped us better assess where “Bio-Circle” expertise and cleaning solutions could be applied in Norway’s energy and offshore sectors.

The contacts established and technical discussions initiated during the exhibition will be continued as we evaluate specific product applications and potential cooperation opportunities.
